Unfortunately, ovarian cancer is often detected at later stages as patients are asymptomatic or experience non-specific symptoms. Ovarian cancer causes more deaths than any other female reproductive cancer, while endometrial cancer is the most common cancer of the female reproductive system. Our simonONE plus option includes a female comprehensive screening that provides detailed imaging of the female reproductive organs to be reviewed by our radiologists. MRI imaging of the pelvis allows our radiologists to identify uterine positioning or possible prolapse, and the presence of masses, fibroids, and cysts. Additionally, the endometrium is measured to exclude thickening, which may be a sign of endometrial cancer. Imaging can also show if the endometrial tissue has grown into the uterine muscle, causing a condition known as adenomyosis. Adenomyosis may cause heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, cramps, chronic pelvic pain, or painful intercourse. In addition to detecting ovarian masses concerning for ovarian cancer, conditions including polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis may also be detected. These conditions can impact fertility, and symptoms are often vague and overlapping, leading to delayed diagnosis. Early detection will allow women to promptly seek the care they need.
